The doors opened with a sudden boom, and a gust of wind swirled into the waiting room, causing Aeon to gasp mildly. The wind was a little chilly, but that was because she had been in much warmer areas recently, not to mention that she had been in the small waiting room long enough for her body temperature to chill its air. But truth be told, the cool exterior air was not all that was responsible for the gasp. It was the people. Aeon could feel them without even having to see them. Excitement, expectations, anticipations... the emotions were similar but so many. They washed over the Dragon Slayer, giving her a good feeling about this match. She had never met whom she was up against today, but she would assume that this person was very strong, just to be on the safe side. Aeon closed her eyes and stepped forward, allowing her ears to guide her onto the battlefield.

As she appeared, the roar was stunning. She didn't bother looking up, or waving or doing anything silly. She was actually very nervous, and she felt that acting differently from what she was doing now might cause her to make a silly goof up... and she was too cool to let herself be embarrassed by such things.

When she had come close enough to the referee, she slowly opened her eyes, looking to see whom she was up against. From the name that the host had called, this person was female. She stood, arms folded across her chest, cool as ice, though she intently watched Desdemona, trying to see if she could read anything from this woman.

When Aeon entered the arena, Nix raised a hand to her face, gently biting down on the nail of her index finger as she studied her opponent. She was young, no mistake about that, and most likely had not experienced very much. In any case, Nix had very little initial interest. As such, she lowered her hand and folded her arms. Her eyes narrowed slightly as a brief chill shot up Aeon's spine. Nix' cold, seductive gaze pierced through Aeon. The only real decision to be made would be to decide if Nix would outright begin using magic, or simply goad and prod her opponent into attacking. Either method would be fine for Nix, but even still, She wanted to decide. She seemed unphased by the cheering crowd, her eyes focused completely on Aeon. After a moment, she uncrossed her arms and slowly raised her hand towards Aeon, as if in preparation to attack. She kept up the ruse, raising her hand further and further, until finally she simply moved it to her hair and flipped it back over her shoulder. Nix was toying with Aeon right now, and anyone watching would know it. Her overall demeanor was that of one who didn't take the fight seriously. A sultry grin spread across her face then she raised her hand once more, this time gesturing with her index finger for Aeon to attack. Throughout this entire display, there was a sinister chill in the air. Nix was no more ice mage, and Aeon would have to find that out the hard and painful way.

Aeon's eyes remained fixed on Desdemona, her gaze unwavering, although her mind instantly went 'battle mode'. The brief chill that went up her spine felt eerie, but if Desdemona was attempting to scare her, then that was a big mistake. An Aura Dragon Slayer was master over emotions. The woman then gestured with her finger to Aeon. Aeon did not so much as bristle, but she was annoyed by that gesture. So, she was making fun of her? Underestimating her, huh? Before doing anything, Aeon first made a mental note of the strange drop in temperature. Perhaps that was a telltale sign of the magic that she was up against. But this was a serious battle, at least for her. She would leave nothing to chance. Aeon tilted her head to one side, as though she was considering an option, and then without warning, she charged...

The Dragon Slayer clenched both hands into fists, and then feinted as though she would throw a blow, but instead spun round quickly, aiming a roundhouse kick at Desdemona's chest. By aiming her chest, she would either have to dodge extensively, or do something else. And it was that something else that Aeon wanted to see. She would not be the first to show her cards in hand, although she was well aware that once either of them did so, the battle would take on a fever pitch.

Nix' grin widened as Aeon rushed at her. She made no motion to dodge as Aeon feinted and even less motion when she suddenly switched up to deliver the kick. Nix took the full force of the kick, sliding back across the ground. She shifted her foot slightly and stopped her momentum then slumped forward, her hair falling over her face. Nix stood motionless for a few seconds then slowly stood upright and raised her head to look at Aeon. The same grin was still present on her face, but it seemed like there was a change in her eyes...they had began to glaze over slightly. She uttered a low moan then licked her lips, gesturing for Aeon to attack again. It seemed like the kick had no effect on her, save for relocating her. Despite their slightly dulled appearance, Nix' crimson eyes stayed focused on Aeon. She still hadn't decided to use her magic yet, her interest in the fight hadn't been completely peaked. If that kick was the best thing young girl could do, it would be clear that Nix wouldn't get much satisfaction from fighting her. Nix was a glutton for pain, and it would take a lot of it to finally illicit a counterattack.

Aeon tilted her head again, a frown on her face. First off, why did the woman not try to dodge that attack? Next question, why did she seem to be enjoying the pain? Aeon had never come across masochists before. Sadists, yes, but masochists were another thing entirely. And she didn't like that.

"Hmph! My first battle and I get to fight the freak of Sabertooth. Maybe they're all like that..."

Aeon, of course, showed nothing of her initial surprise, her expression still intact. If the fight continued like this, it would get boring, and Aeon, inasmuch as she didn't favor needless fighting, felt that it was her obligation to give the spectators a sport. Besides, she wanted to wipe that smirk off Desdemona's face... or at least get her serious. Maybe another kick would be in order...

Aeon charged again, her fists clenching again, as though she was going to use the same technique as before. Instead, she proceeded to throw a powerful punch at Desdemona's face. Naturally, everyone's eyes would be on the punch, and so they would not see Aeon's next subtle movement, until it was too late. As the blow came flying in, a magic circle formed on the ground around Aeon, and instantly, seven large spikes burst out of the sand in a forward arc, attempting to skewer Desdemona in the process. The proximity would offer Desdemona little space to dodge, and the size and number of the spikes would be bound to cause some nasty damage.

Nix glanced at the spikes briefly then licked her lips again. Getting struck by one of them would most likely hurt quite a bit, and that thought excited Nix a small amount. Once again, she took the full force of Aeon's physical strike, moving her body with the direction of the punch. She then shifted her body slightly and took a small step back. In an instant, her hand shot up and locked around Aeon's wrist. Nix turned her head to look at Aeon, revealing that her eyes had glazed over a bit more and a small streak of blood was dripping from her mouth....and that the grin was still present on her face. She licked away the blood and tightened her grip. She then quickly pulled Aeon towards her as she maneuvered her body more. One of the spikes had tore open a decent sized gash in Nix' side, causing her to moan again and her eyes to glaze over further. What came next anyone could guess....she was going to pull Aeon into the remaining spikes' path and cause her to be impaled by her own spell. Even as she pulled Aeon towards her, she trailed her free hand across the gash, covering it in a thin layer of ice to seal the wound and stop the bleeding.

Nix' grip tightened further and her touch began to grow cold. Aeon could feel as if the heat were being drained from her body. Licking her lips a third time, she fully pulled Aeon into the path of the spikes, though not directly so as to be killed by them. Instead, Aeon suffered several gashes on her body, the sheer number of which was enough to cause her to almost completely lose consciousness. As the spikes crumbled away, Nix kept her grip firm on Aeon's wrist and reached toward her with her free hand. Then, in one quick motion, she grabbed hold of Aeon's neck and shifted forward while sweeping her leg beneath Aeon, knocking her legs from under her. With a surprising and vicious force, she slammed Aeon to the ground, the impact being enough to completely knock her unconscious. Nix let out a disappointed scoff and flicked her hair back over her shoulder. Her initial feeling on this match had been correct, it wasn't even worth it for her to use her magic. She looked down at Aeon with a look of disgust before turning away. The dullness faded from her eyes as she began to leave the arena.

"Nix has done it! In an impressive display, the Ice Queen of Sabertooth has defeated the Aura Dragon of Fairy Tail! Following the victory of Orpheus the Maroon Dragon, this makes the second victory for Sabertooth! Could they possibly sweep the competition? Only time will tell!" The announcer yelled frantically over the cheering crowd.

Nix paused midstep and glanced towards the announcer's booth as he mentioned that Orpheus had won his match. A slight grin spread across her face then she continued on. Though she had not formally met him, she had expected Orpheus to win given his reputation. The only remaining Sabertooth member who had yet to claim their victory would be Fa, but as with Orpheus, she wasn't concerned about a loss. She knew he would win, he was Sabertooth, after all. Her grin widened slightly then she looked forward again and continued on her way, leaving the arena.
