Bandit Blowout

After eating in a restaurant in Hargeon, Augustus stared at Shadow. "Come on. We've got to meet the mayor now." Augustus said as he and Shadow made their way to the city hall. "Hey, Augustus. This town looks good, but I haven't seen a single magic shop yet." Augustus stared at Shadow, and then looked around. There was no magic shop ever since they stopped by. "I've heard that this town is a town full of fishermen. They don't earn their living through magic, except for the guild here known as Lamia Scale." Augustus said as he thought of the time he was in Lamia Scale. After just entering, people were so serious. They all looked determined. Some of them looked traditional, unlike Blue Pegasus, which was full of beauty. Finally, they made it to the city hall. "Um, Aug?" Shadow said as he stared around. The city hall was well guarded. It seems like they had no chance to get in. The guards were armed with guns. They might have some trouble getting in, though Augustus thought of one way. "Shadow, getting in will just be a breeze, promise!" Augustus said as he walked straight to the guards. The guards started to look at him. "Hey, kid! What are you doing here?" One of the guards asked before Augustus can get in. Before the guards said anything else, Augustus took the request paper and flashed it at the guards. After seeing that, the guards cleared the way into the city hall. Augustus and Shadow went in. It was a really weird place. There were many artifacts and traditional items. These might be from the Lamia Scale guild. Augustus finally made it in the mayor's room. But before he can open the door, the mayor came out. "We're the wizards of Blue Pegasus!" Augustus said as he grinned. Now it was time to know the details.

After saying that they were members from Blue Pegasus, the mayor smiled. But instantly, the mayor wore an angry face, pointed at Augustus, and said, "I posted that request two weeks ago! What took you so long?" The mayor said angrily. "S-sorry, Mr. Jeff." Augustus said, surprised at the mayor's immediate shift of attitude. "We just got in Blue Pegasus three days ago..." Augustus said in a quite intimidated tone. After saying that, the mayor went back to normal. Augustus and Shadow sighed in relief. "Ahem, I'm Jeff Warding. The mayor of this town. These group of bandits caught my attention. They have been stealing money from several motorists. I've sent officers to the site, but they came back unarmed and wounded. I need you, mage." After hearing that, Augustus knew that these bandits might not be jokes. They might prove as a challenge, but they should never think so. If they stay positive, they will prevail. "So, Mayor Jeff. We need to beat these guys senseless, right? Please tell us where they are and we'll get going." Augustus asked to learn more details. "Oh, these bandits are in the toll gate east of Hargeon. I promise you with jewels if you are able to disband them. Don't just beat them. Make them disband, or no reward will be given." After hearing that, Augustus stared at Shadow, grinning. "Sir, anymore you want to add?" Augustus asked, eager to know anything else. "How strong are these bandits, and what do they use to fight?" The mayor stared at Augustus emotionless. "Do not think that those bandits are powerful. It will just hinder your progress." After saying that, the mayor cleared his throat. "They carry swords and axes. They are just normal weapons and have no magical threats whatsoever. I believe you'll be fine, since you seem to be confident enough to handle this job." The mayor said, grinning. "Alright, Mayor Jeff. I'm on my way." Augustus said, making his way to the toll gate.

Augustus and Shadow made their way out of the city hall, ready for their first mission. They made their way south of Hargeon, asking some people for directions to the toll gate. Most of the people told them not to consider going there, since the bandits were known to be powerful. But will they be powerful when faced with the shadow dragon slayer? This question remains unanswered. "Hey, Shadow, we're almost there!" Augustus shouted as he walked a few more blocks. When Augustus was getting near, he grabbed the scent of the robbers. They smelled like sweat. Augustus wished he never got their scent. "These guys smell fishy." Augustus said as his face started to sweat a lot because of the smell of sweating robbers. They finally got to the toll gate, though none of the robbers noticed them. They were hiding behind a small bush. From the distance between Augustus and the robbers, Augustus can't really see what they were doing. "Hey, Shadow, do you think you can sneak up on them?" Augustus asked Shadow. Shadow took a small glance at the robbers, and activated his shadow blending skill. Shadow can still be seen, but he won't be noticed. His feet were silent. No one will hear him coming. Shadow took a look at the robbers. They were all buff and had many weapons in their hands. They had axes, swords, bats, and hammers. They also had combat knives. They looked intimidating, but not that scary to Shadow. Now it was time to report back.

Augustus just sat there, waiting for Shadow. A few seconds after, Shadow got back. Shadow was grinning. They might have a chance against these guys. C'mon, Augustus is a dragon slayer, and these guys seem to be nobodies. Who will win against that? "What?" Augustus asked Shadow, ready to strike. "Aug. They are just regular warriors. We have a large chance agains them." Shadow said, grinning with a rather amused face. Augustus glared at the bandits, and started counting. "One." Augustus got ready, and gathered shadows in his mouth. After that, he swallowed the shadows, feeling stronger. "Two." Augustus said as he made his way out of the bushes, with Shadow on his side. He was ready to attack now. "THREE!!!" Augustus shouted loudly, gaining the attention of the bandits. The bandits looked surprised. They never expected Augustus to come out of no where. They were all startled. Maybe even scared. "Hey." Augustus said calmly. The bandits were all surprised. They never taught of this to happen. They were all drinking merrily and swimming on the money they got, but now it will all be gone, and they will never see each other starting today. "Roar of the Shadow Dragon!" Augustus shouted as he unleashed a beam filled with shadows. The beam was able to hit two bandits, both of them sent flying. They both landed on a table, and got back up. They were both angry, got back up and charged. Augustus just grinned. These guys were on the bad edge of the fight. They will likely be beaten up after this. "Bring it on!" Augustus said as he grinned. He gathered shadows around him. He gathered it on his hands. "Wings of the shadow dragon!" Augustus said as he leaped to the sky, dodging the attacks of the two bandits, and soared down at them, hitting them with powerful force. They were both knocked back to a tree, dazed. 'Shadow dragon's sense1" Augustus shouted afterwards, and was able to dodge attacks from bandits behind him. The last two seemed to be still healthy. Augustus wanted to play with them for a while, so he fought them using his fists and dodged their axes. "Come on!" Augustus said, grinning as he kept dodging the axes, but was surprised when someone grabbed his hands from behind. "Oh crap!" Augustus said as he was suppressed by the bandit. The other bandit went in front of him, preparing to hit him with an axe. "Take this!' Shadow shouted as he knocked the guy holding Augustus on the head. The guy let go and started to aim at Shadow, but to no avail. After that, Augustus jumped and hit the foe with a powerful kick, shouting the words "Claws of the Shadow dragon!" At the same time. The guy was knocked unconscious after the hit on the head. Now there was only one more bandit. The bandit was busy trying to hit a flying dog... or cat. Just don't call Shadow a dog, or you're dead. Augustus just watched them. They were quite entertaining. Augustus wanted to watch them piss each other off like babies. Augustus grinned and started to laugh. Shadow saw him, and stared at him, annoyed. "Aug... Fight!" Shadow said in an irritated tone. Augustus just grinned, ignoring his annoyance. But after a few minutes, Augustus decided to fight. He just ran at the bandit and kicked him with force, knocking the guy down. "There, better?" Augustus said as he told Shadow to drag the other two bandits here. After a few minutes, Augustus gathered them all together. He asked Shadow to give him a pail of water, and started to pour it at them. They all woke up, but none of them were able to move because Augustus gave them a hard beating. "If I ever find out that you guys are doing this, you will all be dead." Augustus said in a threatening tone, watching the poor bandits shiver in fear. "Y-yes, we wi-will get out. Promise!" The bandits said, acting like little babies. "Oh, and when I see you four together and doing evil schemes, I will give you all the ultimate beating." Augustus said as he made sure that they all went out in separate ways, all of them accompanied by officers which he told Shadow to call. Now, it was time to go back to the mayor.

-2 hours later-
"Mayor Jeff!" Augustus shouted as he entered the office. He finished the quest unmarked. he did not have any scars at all. Being a shadow dragon slayer, he had more strength than regular mages. This job was a breeze for him, though it was still tiring to fight a group of bandits."Great! Now I shall reward you." Mayor Jeff said as he walked near Augustus, giving him the reward. "Thanks." Augustus said as he made his way out, smiling at the completion of his first quest.
